'Absolutely staggering': Dozens injured in Connecticut train crash
Sat May 18, 2013
If you remember Obama's first term stimulus and jobs package was trashed by the Republicans, but a large chunk of this money was destined for infrastructure improvements. You can use steel to make new rails or fix up those M1A1 tanks that the Pentagon says that it does not need.
2016 notebook: Republicans try to dent Clinton's armor
Fri May 17, 2013
The 2016 Democratic nomination will be is as simple as ABC. Anybody but Clinton.
At least 18 slain as blasts rip through 2 mosques in Pakistan village
Fri May 17, 2013
Only eighteen? Another eighty-one million to go, but then others will move in and continue the carnage. Partition after WWII was a terrible idea - why would you put all of your (British India's) rotten eggs in one (perhaps two) baskets?
After AP leak controversy, White House pushes for media-shield law
Wed May 15, 2013
The Brits have something called a "D Notice" which an editor will ignore at his or her peril. Sure, the claim of "national security" can be (and is) abused, just as some senators "chose" to leak information that they know is ultra-sensitive. Hence the appeal for some sort of balance.
How a diplomatic spat over compromised spy may have triggered AP leak probe

Glenn-974637 (see post #1.9) doesn't use the word treason - but that is what this amounts to. Sure a journalist wants a big scoop, and someone on the inside is only too happy to help out.
NTSB recommends lowering blood alcohol level that constitutes drunken driving
Tue May 14, 2013
Go for zero tolerance for alcohol and the recreational drugs. Most of the prescription stuff already carries a warning about operating machinery. That old bumper sticker read, "Drive hammered, get nailed." Sounds fair to me.
Prosecutors: Six years for Berlusconi over sex charges
Mon May 13, 2013
Berlusconi - the new Italian word for dog-schmidt. Why is it that so many politician believe that ordinary ethical and moral standards to not apply to them? The last monarch in England to claim "divine right" ended up with his neck (rather than his pecker) on the block.
Explosion on bus kills 19 in Pakistan's tribal region
Sun May 12, 2013
Velly, velly, good, velly good indeed, yes, yes, yes. Should happen MUCH more often; I guess that someone's package went off inadvertently. There were many casualties, but no great loss.
On Benghazi probe, GOP's Issa says 'Hillary Clinton's not a target'
Sun May 12, 2013
Just one cotton pickin' minute here. Clinton dropped the football. She may not be the 'target' but there is always acceptable collateral damage (which she thoroughly deserves). ABC in 2016 (Anybody but Clinton).
Deadly explosions mar landmark Pakistan election
Sat May 11, 2013
Salman Rushdie has it right, "Pakistan is a failed state and a terrorist state." They need to be quarantined for another sixty-five years - nothing in (especially aid) and nothing out (Pakki terrorists). If their cricket teams want to play on the world stage, let them post bond first.
